Mechanical Designer / Mechanical Engineer

Job Type: Full-Time
Experience Level: Mid-Level (2–10 years)

About the Role

We are seeking a hands-on, creative, and detail-oriented Mechanical Designer or Mechanical Engineer to join our innovative product development team. This role is ideal for a self-driven individual with a strong background in plastic and metal component design, small mechanisms, and electromechanical systems. You will be instrumental in taking concepts from sketch to prototype to production. This is NOT a Remote position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop mechanical and electromechanical components using SolidWorks CAD.
  • Create and refine 3D models, detailed 2D drawings, BOMs, and design documentation.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with electrical, software, and manufacturing teams.
  • Perform design validation through DFMEA, tolerance stack-ups, fit/function testing, and prototyping.
  • Develop mechanisms and assemblies using plastic injection molding, sheet metal, machined parts, and other manufacturing methods.
  • Support product prototyping using 3D printing, bench testing, and rapid iteration.
  • Assist in supplier communication, design for manufacturability (DFM), and cost optimization.
  • Participate in continuous improvement, quality reviews, and design reviews.

Required Qualifications

  • 2–10 years of experience in mechanical design or mechanical engineering roles.
  • Proficient with SolidWorks 3D CAD and documentation standards.
  • Experience designing with plastics (injection molding), metals (machining, stamping, sheet metal).
  • Familiarity with small mechanism design (linkages, cams, actuators, gears, etc.).
  • Working knowledge of mechatronics or electromechanical systems (motors, sensors, wiring, basic PCB interfaces).
  • Strong problem-solving, prototyping, and iterative design skills.

Preferred/Bonus Skills

  • Hands-on experience with 3D printing, hobby electronics, or mechanical side projects.
  • Familiarity with Arduino, Raspberry Pi, or similar for basic automation/prototyping.
  • Experience with rapid prototyping tools, test fixture design, or low-volume production.
  • Comfortable using lab/shop equipment (drills, calipers, soldering tools, etc.).

Ideal Candidate

  • You’re a builder, tinkerer, or maker with technical hobbies that match your profession.
  • You thrive in a hands-on design and test environment and enjoy seeing your designs come to life.
  • You bring creative, practical solutions and work well in fast-paced, collaborative teams.
