Manufacturing Engineer

Department: Indirect Manufacturing
Location: Lexington, SC

Basic Job Function:

Plans, directs, and coordinates manufacturing processes in an industrial plant. Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods using knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards. Analyzes and plan work force utilization, space requirements, workflow and design layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency. Estimates production times, staffing requirements, and related costs. Applied statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements.

Departmental

Primary Responsibilities:

1. Carries out process improvement, problem resolution, project management and employee training.

2. Improves manufacturing processes and methods for cost-reduction, quality improvement and efficiency.

3. Assist Manufacturing Manager in improving a system of production control, standard operating procedures, safety, quality and training.

4. Performs research, design and development of manufacturing processes including production flow, assembly methods and production equipment.

5. Coordinates the manufacturing launch of new/revised products, establishing work instruction, training team members and evaluating results.

6. Establishes and maintains production routings in accordance with established standards.

7. Design, develops, sources, cost justifies various tools, machinery and equipment for recommended manufacturing methods.

8. Performs product/process analysis for cost reduction, quality improvement, and improved efficiency.

9. Represents manufacturing on cross-functional teams.

10. Aid in determining rework processes for discrepant material, if needed.

Secondary Responsibilities:

1. Provide technical support to the maintenance department.

2. Provide support to the Safety Team to improve safety within the facility.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering preferred and/or 5+ years Manufacturing experience will be considered.

Manufacturing and production experience

Knowledge of tool and fixture design, preferred, but not required.

Capable with insight to analyze production to streamline for efficiency.
